ABOUT SONSIE
I have been privileged to facilitate yoga full-time in different countries around the world - UK, Canada, India and New Zealand.
Mostly, I teach an embodied meditative flow. For me, ‘flow’ is a state beyond mind. I invite students to become fully immersed in each movement, each breath, moment to moment. I encourage students to embody the rhythm of their breath and to observe without judgment of, or resistance to, the natural flow or pulse of awareness.
My teaching style uses a combination of meditation, pranayama (breath) and yogāsana postures (inspired by functional anatomy and somatic movement). I interweave movement with restful stillness in Yin and Restorative shapes.
I care deeply about empowering students to arrive in presence-awareness, to authentically express their truth and to cultivate equanimity in the midst of constant change or impermanence.
It is my intention to serve my students as they are. Therefore, I teach with a profound sensitivity to my students’ needs, abilities, possibilities, strengths and vulnerabilities.
My main teachers and inspiration are Jason Crandell (The Jason Crandell Yoga Method), Tara Judelle (Embodied Flow), Anandra George (Heart of Sound), Christopher Hareesh Wallis (Classical Tantra) and Vipassana meditation in the Sri Goenka Tradition.
